A 13-year-old girl named Hozumi Kyou, from a rural area, travels to Tokyo during the Meiji Era to begin an apprenticeship. She hopes to earn money to purchase medicine for her blind mother. After becoming lost in the city, she encounters a young man who may assist her in securing the apprenticeship. However, obstacles stand in her way.
