Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei: Saikoroshi-hen

This story serves as a follow-up to Matsuribayashi-hen, set two months later in August 1983. Rika is hit by a truck and awakens in an alternate reality where the traumatic events of the main series never occurred. In this world, Keiichi is not present in Hinamizawa, Rena's parents remain married, the dam project was completed without issue, Satoshi did not disappear, and neither Satoko nor Rika’s parents died. However, the club never formed, leaving Rika without friends and subject to bullying by Satoko. Hanyū is absent, Rika is not seen as the reincarnation of Oyashiro, and the village is destined to be flooded. Rika must decide whether to remain in this world or kill her mother, an act that would allow her to leave this seemingly perfect but lonely existence.
