Matsunaga Gengo, once Edo's most renowned firefighter, left the profession after a critical incident and fell into hardship as a ronin alongside his wife, Miyuki. An unexpected summons from the Dewa Shinjo Domain requests his return as chief firefighter to address the increasing number of suspicious fires in the city. Accepting the challenge, Gengo works to restore a struggling fire unit known as the "Ragged Fire Hawk Group." He faces the dangers of the flames in an effort to safeguard Edo and its residents.
