I Hwangjeneun Gyeolhon Sagireul Chimnida

The narrator has been pulled into a novel where the only certainty is a fierce instinct to survive, and is just beginning to settle into the rhythms of that borrowed life when a peculiar small child stumbles into the household. Money is already tight, but the child's wide, pleading eyes make turning him away impossible, and the narrator decides to raise him with care. When the boy declares that he wants to marry her and asks her to sign a marriage registration, she humors him by signing as a joke, since minors cannot file such documents. The form, however, is somehow accepted, and the supposedly innocent child turns out to be the Emperor himself, having used a careful disguise to maneuver her into a binding marriage she never agreed to in earnest.
