Outwardly Jung Chae-Min always wears a smile, but the cheerful surface masks an attraction to other boys and a home life where bruises rather than warmth accumulate. Early in his second year of high school the transfer student Ian arrives in his class, a sharp-faced loner who keeps his distance from everyone and seems to glare at Chae-Min in particular. A chance discovery of one of Ian's own secrets shifts the dynamic, and as Chae-Min carries that knowledge alongside him a strange sense of release begins to take hold. Ian, in turn, grows attuned to the wounds Chae-Min hides and even surfaces in his dreams, drawn by something he cannot quite explain. The two stand at the seam between darkness and light, gradually bleeding into one another's worlds. The piece is the thirteenth story in the Sachungi: Neoreul Saenggakaneun Bom collection.
