Thirty-five years before Shin encounters Merlin, the Earlshide School was home to a difficult student named Merlin, an exceptional girl named Melinda, and a ruthless prodigy named Kyle. When Merlin and Melinda started a relationship, the news spread throughout the city. Kyle, upon hearing about it, offered his congratulations but was consumed by jealousy. After completing their studies, Merlin and Melinda became hunters, while Kyle pursued a path as a magician.
