Mishima faces a difficult day just before her 30th birthday when she is fired from her job as an editor and ends her relationship with her boyfriend. Despite this, she remains hopeful due to her correspondence with Rei, an enigmatic writer who responds to her fan emails. One morning, after a night of heavy drinking, Mishima discovers a young man at her doorstep who introduces himself as Rei.
