On an unusually warm summer night, the Obinata family's routine is disrupted by the arrival of Shuu Asuou, an unexpected guest who declares he will be living with them. He claims to have married their sister, Shima, and is staying at their home until she returns. When she does not appear, Shuu announces his intention to remain indefinitely. The family is left questioning his true reason for wanting to join them.
