A mysterious entity awakens from the blood of countless victims as the Mongols invade Eastern Europe in 1242. Mongol commander Subutai sends a team of hunters to confront the being, unaware that this encounter marks the start of an extended conflict between humans and the entity. This event is presented as the origin of the Anemia universe.
