Ninpou Taiheiyou Senki Kuubotou

In August 1943, the Japanese airbase at Rabaul faced repeated American assaults. Heavily protected by naval forces and an advanced radar-equipped anti-aircraft gun, the island could not be attacked preemptively. During a briefing for reporters, one journalist identified a member of the group as an imposter—Yoshihiko Nanjo. A graduate of the army school, he had been assigned the code name Sakura No. 1 and sent to infiltrate the island to destroy the anti-aircraft weapon. Captured after being wounded, he managed to escape using a concealed tool. Stealing a plane loaded with a bomb, he aimed to destroy the gun, but the bomb failed. Severely damaged and injured, he crashed his aircraft into the target in a final, successful strike. His mission succeeded, but his identity remained unknown.
