A one-volume prequel to *BLAME!*, this manga is told from the perspective of a police officer named Susono Musubi. It explores the time before the Netsphere became unstable, covering the uncontrolled expansion of the Megastructure, the emergence of parasitic entities known as Silicon Creatures, and the creation of the lethal machines called Safeguards. The collection also features Tsutomu Nihei's early work *BLAME*, which later inspired the 10-volume *BLAME!* series.
