A racing team aims to establish dominance in global motorsports by assembling a top-tier Japanese squad. They identify Kai Hitotsubashi, a gifted driver, as a key asset. When they encounter Ken Kosugi, who demonstrates impressive skill behind the wheel of an automatic wagon, they consider him a potential partner for Kai. A scout is sent to evaluate Ken, but he holds only a limited license for automatic vehicles and lacks experience with manual transmissions or racing cars.
