The next candidate, a knight, discovered his attraction to men and left with his male partner, which she sees as a positive outcome. The last candidate, a civilian officer, attempted to kill her after she uncovered his dealings with a black market merchant. She narrowly escaped, believing her actions prevented a rise in flour prices and potential famine. She concludes none of these men were her destined partner.
