A core remains within all living beings after death. Faris, a traveling merchant, discovers a girl named Eva unconscious in the desert and helps her. He brings her to the oasis city of Aulof. As they walk through the town's villas, Eva slowly opens up to Faris, eventually revealing, "That's the house I ran away from." The narrative follows a girl burdened by a "taboo."
