Sengoku Senjutsu Senki Lobos

The decline of central authority led to the rise of regional lords, or daimyo, across Japan. Established clans like the Takeda and Imagawa, who had operated under the Kamakura and Muromachi bakufu, extended their influence. Some leaders saw their positions weakened and were replaced by more capable subordinates. This shift, where lower-ranking individuals overthrew their superiors, became known as gekokujō. An early example was Hōjō Sōun, who came from modest beginnings and took control of Izu province in 1493. His descendants remained influential in the Kantō region until they were subdued by Toyotomi Hideyoshi near the end of the Sengoku period. Other instances included the Miyoshi taking over from the Hosokawa, the Oda replacing the Shiba, and the Saitō succeeding the Toki.
