A newly discovered tenth planet named Lametal is set to collide with Earth on September 9, 1999, resulting in Earth's destruction but not significantly harming Lametal. Yayoi, the daughter of Lametal's queen, is tasked with capturing many humans for enslavement. She meets Hajime, an orphaned boy, and begins to doubt her mother's motives. With her human family and friends, Yayoi opposes Lametal and seeks a way to prevent Earth's destruction.
