Shinji Ikari, after witnessing his friend Toji being threatened by gangsters, turns to private investigator Ryoji Kaji and his assistant, Kaworu Nagisa, for help. Despite his initial intentions to simply observe, Shinji ends up assisting in the investigation alongside Kaworu. As they work together, it becomes clear that Kaworu himself holds secrets that complicate the case.
