A junior high student who is gay faces harsh bullying in his rural hometown, finding brief moments of self-expression through his mother’s stolen lipstick. After losing the lipstick, he discovers that one of his tormenters, a star soccer player, is secretly using it. The two begin a complex summer of mutual discovery, seeking a space to be themselves, though the situation proves difficult to navigate.
