A freelance journalist, Yuushi Kamome, is devastated by the accidental death of his daughter, which leads to his wife abandoning him. One day, members of an unfamiliar religious group called the Smiling Hearts Society visit him and give him a flyer. He is shocked when he sees his ex-wife's smiling face on it. This encounter sets him on a path to investigate the group, raising questions about the nature of their beliefs and the unsettling smiles they display.
