Sumire Hakusho

In 1960s Japan, a young woman in her twenties works as a salesperson at a department store. She rejects the idea of relying on men for survival and views her physical presence as a means to carve out her own position in society. She enters into an agreement aimed at securing her independence and challenging the prevailing male-dominated norms that restrict women. The question remains whether it is possible to guard against both human nature and personal emotions.
