A timid individual named Ken Kaneki is excited to spend time with Rize, a girl he finds attractive. However, she is not interested in a typical date—she wants to consume him. After an ambiguous intervention by others, Ken becomes a hybrid being, part human and part Ghoul. This transformation pulls him into a hidden and dangerous realm of Ghouls that coexists with human society.
