Tora no Maki

Tiger Tateishi started drawing comics in 1964, influenced by MAD Magazine copies left by occupation forces. Before relocating to Milan in 1969, he contributed to manga magazines. While working at Olivetti under Ettore Sottsass, he created the comic panel layout paintings later compiled in Moon Trax. Around this period, Tateishi aimed to produce a real comic book, dedicating nearly five years to the artwork for Tora no Maki. Initially, Penguin Books in London considered publishing it and held the originals for some time. However, after a call from Seigow Matsuoka at Kousakusha in Tokyo, the book was ultimately published in Japan.
