A journalist named Mike Donovan witnesses the sudden appearance of massive UFOs from the Sirius star system while documenting military conflict in El Salvador. These craft are soon seen globally, and after communicating via radio, the aliens agree to meet with the UN Secretary General. Appearing human, they claim peaceful intentions and offer knowledge in exchange for Earth's chemicals to address environmental issues on their home planet. However, they are actually reptilian beings who view humans as a food source and are draining the planet's water. A resistance group, led by Donovan and Dr. Julie Parrish, forms with the help of dissenting soldiers to oppose them. A key antagonist, a high-ranking alien officer named Diana, seeks total human subjugation.
