Vampires in this setting are not bound by traditional weaknesses and can blend seamlessly into human society. Their true nature is only revealed when they consume human blood, causing them to become violent, uncontrollable creatures. While some vampires are not inherently evil, the covert unit managing Tokyo's vampire population includes vampire agents like Yuuki Anzai, who is half-human and believes his human side helps him resist violent instincts. After Yuuki saves a student named Tsukasa Taira from a vampire attack, he begins experiencing new and troubling impulses.
