Yamaoka Momosuke, weary of crafting riddles for children, seeks to compile eerie and macabre stories for an anthology titled Hyakumonogatari. During his research into old myths and legends, he encounters a group known as the Ongyou, who identify themselves as detectives. Their goal is to uncover the truth behind the legends and hold the guilty accountable. As Momosuke interacts with the Ongyou, he confronts unsettling realities and wrestles with his own moral compass, witnessing things beyond what he should see.
