At Beika Gourmet Restaurant Street, Kogoro and Conan were talking with Takashi Yamaura, owner of Italian Izakaya "RESO", while having their dinner joyfully in his Italian bar. However, this marvellous scenario was then disrupted by the destruction of the bar's wall. The culprit was obviously the owner of this alley, Hiroyuki Kusumi. Due to the fact that numerous shop owners in the alley had rejected the demolition request from him, Kusumi thus attempted to harass them, this became a severe issue until some shop owners died due to exhaustion. Under the assistant of Fumio Nakano, Sushi restaurant "Sakura-ya" owner, along with Yuji Yonezawa, Creative Cuisine "Seventy Seven" owner, Kogoro successfully control the situataion and make Kusumi walk away. Not long after, Conan want to use the toilet. The toilet uses a special coin mechanism to unlock and lock the door. 15 minutes later, when Kogoro want to use the toilet, he discovered Kusumi dead body inside. It was beleived that he tripped in the toilet and hit his head. However, Conan realizes it is a murder. The police then investigate the crime scene. Originally, she was planning to hold hands with her favourite soccer player from the Big Osaka team, Ryusuke Higo. Unluckily, she got the date of the game wrong. Notwithstanding that, the current match doesn't look optimistic for her as well, owing to another player from the Big Osaka, Takahiro Sanada, is not in good condition for the game. Kogoro, Ran, and Conan encounter a cluster of men disputing in the hospital. Apparently, they all belong to a company named "Aizawa Foods". The president of the company is Kenzo Aizawa, and they are Ryoichi, the eldest son of the president; Reiji, the second son of the president respectively. With the addition of Masaru Bando, who is the managing director, that keeps calming them down. The reason for their argument seems to be that their father, Kenzo, was sent to the operating room. The three of them explain to Kogoro that Kenzo fell down inside the refrigerated warehouse. At the same time, the surgery has finished, and everyone approaches him and asks concerning his condition. Strangely, he only claims that he was far too tired, and just dozed off. But Conan perceives a sense of incongruity in Kenzo's words. (Source: Detective Conan Wiki)

Conan, Ran, and Kazuha, who came to Tokyo, visited the Haido Shrine, which was best known for matchmaking. Owing to the encounter of the "115 fate" day, the shrine was rather crowded. Ran previously did not know about this popular attraction and inquired of Kazuha how she became aware of it. Kazuha explained it was because of Heiji, as she haphazardly saw him looking up information with regards to this shrine. From these recent words and deeds, Conan was convinced that Heiji was also there, and he soon found a suspicious man wearing a fox mask. On the other hand, Kazuha noticed a person among the crowd who did not seem to have the intent of matchmaking. Conan found Heiji while poking around the shrine platform, and also teased him using the voice-changing bowtie, which imitated Kazuha's voice. Heiji reiterated the previous attempts at confession, the first time was interrupted by a zombie actor; the second time was interrupted by a paratrooper from the Japanese Air Defense Force; the third time was interrupted by an emergency case; the fourth time was for the same reason; the fifth time at Kiyomizu-dera was taken one step ahead by Shinichi; the sixth time was because Kazuha was disguised by Kid; and the seventh time, Kazuha got dragged away by Iori when Heiji was about to confess. After all of these failures, Heiji realised that the thing he had been missing was not beautiful sights or situations but luck. Therefore, he went to the shrine just to improve his luck. Heiji thus wore the fox mask with Conan's bowtie inside of it, this could allow him to change his sound without being discovered by Kazuha. Surprisingly, Kazuha mistook the masked Heiji for Komoto Hyoga of the Naniwa Kids. The suspicious person who did not seem to have an interest in matchmaking was later found dead and revealed to be a police investigator searching for criminals around the area. From Kazuha's findings, the victim chased after someone while he was waiting in the queue, and was apparently saying something like "This really is a matchmaking shrine, that's three of them in one place." It was liable to be believed that the victim slipped down the steps and died in an accident, but both Conan and Heiji believed that it was a murder. There was a flag without a pole abandoned in the middle of the steps, Heiji deduced that the weapon would possibly be the pole of the flag. Since carrying the entire flag while escaping would be too noticeable, the culprit thus decided to only take the pole. The criminals that the police investigator was searching for before his death were gathered together by the police. There were three suspects in the case: pickpocket and shoplifter Tsurumi Shamoto, a person who drove without a license and committed a hit-and-run, Torahiko Kawano, and marriage fraudster Kyouma Jinnai. The police verified their alibis when the crime was carried out, Tsurumi was tied to a lamppost at the bicycle parking area using the handcuffs, after being discovered by the victim. Torahiko bumped into some thugs and got into a fight with them near the entrance of the shrine, thanks to that, this attarcted loads of attentions towards the fight and gave the oppurtunity for the crime to be implemented without testimonies. Finally, Kyouma was finding his wallet during that time. Conan proposed another assumption, since there was a box used to store the flag poles and flags, those were supposed to be set up already, but due to the fight outbroke by Torahiko, the staff resposible for putting the flags went to spectate. The culprit might put the weapon pole inside the box, however, Sato rejected this theory, because forensics examined the stuff inside it, which did not find a match to the victim's blood component. So, where did the culprit hide the flag pole? In the meantime, Ran thought that the "Komoto" kind of looked like Heiji, did Kazuha also identify the masked man's identity? Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys went shopping, and suddenly, they heard a scream from the "Tanning Salon Kurosawa". This is how Ayumi's third illustrated diary began. Everyone sallied forth into the salon, and they saw Yasuo Tsunoda, who was in a panic. When Conan enquired him what the matter was, he pointed out that one of the customers of this salon, Shin Nishitani, was dead inside room number nine, which was the third room from the back. Conan walked towards the dead body and claimed that it was of no use. And discovered that there was something covered on the victim's skin. After looking at the tanning gel tossed nearby the tanning machine, this might be the poison that killed Shin. Haibara also deduced that it was obvious that the victim was a bodybuilder from his build. Takagi and Chiba arrived and started investigating the case. The first suspect, Masaru Ozawa, is also a customer who regularly visits the salon. He claimed that they did not speak much and thus were not very close to each other. He also denied the fact that the victim had any enemies. Yasuo spoke for Masaru, saying that Masaru is currently a three-time student bodybuilding champion. He also believed that Masaru would most likely win the upcoming bodybuilding contest. The second suspect, Takeshi Nagano, is always regarded as Masaru's rival by the public. He had the determination to overbeat Masaru and win the contest. He said that he also knows the victim, and he was his junior at his school, called Beika International University. Moreover, the school's bodybuilding club is called "Beikoku Body". He also confessed that the victim had made a big purchase lately, but he did not know what it was about. On the other hand, he also seconded the statement that no one held a grudge against the victim, Shin. The corpse analysis was released, and the poison was found inside the gel that covered the victim's body. The gel container nearby the victim also contained poison. Nevertheless, no poisoned gel containers were found in the other tanning rooms. This made the crime seem even more impossible, as when the Detective Boys arrived at the entrance of the salon, the corridor light was closed and it was rather dark. It would be far too difficult to see someone's face in the darkness. There would be no way for the culprit to enter the room and poison the container without being noticed, and if the culprit waited beforehand, there must have been someone who saw the culprit's face. Meanwhile, rooms seven, eight, and nine were usually used by Masaru and Takeshi, and not by the victim Shin evidently. As a result, the suspicion of Yasuo, the salon employee who knew in advance that Shin wanted to use the advanced room that day, rose sharply. The range of suspects was then quickly narrowed down to Yasuo Tsunoda, the salon employee. He is the only person who would have known which room the victim would enter at the outset and had the opportunity to poison him beforehand. There was also a possibility of indiscriminate murder since Masaru was staying in the tanning room near the victim's room. Conan inquired of Yasuo concerning the structure of the salon. Yasuo explained that only rooms seven, eight, and nine in the back out of the ten rooms in the salon are exclusively special, as not only are they bigger but also have high-powered machines meant for advanced tanners. Another suspicious point was that the victim had always used the standard machines to tan, but remarkably, on the day of the crime, he mysteriously entered the high-powered machine room. The Detective Boys and the police went to gather information from Shin's coach, Randy Moore. He also accounted Shin as a nice guy who had no enemies. Randy said Shin looked up to Takeshi and thus copied every move made by Takeshi. For example, whenever Takeshi starts a new training program, Shin copies it. Even so, the coach said that Shin had not arrived at the top level of competition. On the other side, the case seemed to be making huge progress. Inside the trial room, Chiba found out that he had been constantly embezzling the salon's profit and also found a poisoned gel container inside his bag. Still and all, Ayumi thought that the case might not just end like this so easily, and Conan also looked very dissatisfied with this resolution. The most prominent thing is: what is the motive for killing Shin? He never had any enemies, apparently. Conan started to review the case and flipped Ayumi's diary back and forth. And got inspired when Ayumi said the three men looked too alike and could easily be mixed up. Conan discovered the truth in this case after looking at the men's teeth. Before Juhita's encounter with the rubbery thief, Juhita phoned and said that Suria had come to another city, accordingly, Conan began to investigate the reason Juhita lied to come to Beika. On an idly day, near the pavement located next to a shrine, the stick repeatedly danced upon the drum, which created a sound reverberating around the whole street, lacing with a melancholy melody that came out of a clarinet. The Detective Boys were deeply attracted by the graceful music and followed behind the three music players. The three folks led them towards a newly opened candy shop nearby, and they seemed to be the staff responsible for celebrating it. The emaciated man, wearing a purple kimono decided to hand the Detective Boys a plum for each of them, in order to commemorate this jubilant day. Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko all claimed that they had never seen anything like this plum before. After the three of them tasted it, they were all astonished by the luscious flavour of it. While Conan did not impersonate the others, he gazed at the plum in his hand, and looked rather dejected. Genta then questioned Conan about whether he was looking down at candies, yet Conan denied it, and remarked mercilessly, "It's just that candy for kids." then just put the plum inside his pockets. Genta got fairly piqued after hearing Conan's thoughts, and told Conan that he ought not pretend to be a grownup. Mitsuhiko also echoed, stating that people like Conan are being classified as arrogant. Although Conan kept declining being arrogant, Genta started a quarrel with Conan about it. Finally, suppressing his anger, Conan walked off. After leaving the Detective Boys, Conan alone, walked along the pavement grumbling. Abruptly, he came across an old man, who was wearing spectacles with frames embellished with gold. He had his full body dressed in grey, also had a grey hat on top of his head. Due to Conan's madness at the Detective Boys, he did not see the old man advancing towards him, thus Conan knocked him down undeliberately. Conan apologized to the old man and helped him picking up his spectacles. After he put his spectacles, he said something gradually: "I saw a corpse, an omurice corpse." Conan sighed and thought that was non-sense, and attempted to walking away. However, the old man seemed to be raged and grabbed Conan back, meanwhile shouting sentences like "Don't turn your back on the elderly!" He held Conan in his arms, carried him at an gloomy alley full of bamboos grown. Conan did not understand, and inquired of the old man where was the so-called "omurice corpse", the old man then realised that the corpse was grisly gone. The old man then accused Conan eating the omurice, Conan keenly escaped out of the old man's arm timely, unfortunately got obstructed by the end of the small alley. The end of the alley happened to be a wooden door with a layer of dust deposited onto it, apparently not being used for a while. As Conan peered upwards, a signboard with "Jurakudai" had been engraved on top of it came into sight. Conan then noticed that this was the name of the restaurant that he had been before with Ran. Three months ago, it used to be a famed and popular restaurant that served western foods. Conan recalled the last time he visited the Jurakudai Restaurant with Ran. When they walked into the restaurant entrance hall, there was a big aquarium-like facility with all kinds of special dishes introduced exclusively by the restaurant flowing all around the water inside the aquarium. This can be considered the menu of this peculiar restaurant. When they turned their heads to the left, they saw the chef-owner of the restaurant, Jurakudai, who was busy in the kitchen. At that time, he was jugging kitchen dishes ingeniously and had none of them broken into pieces. There were three staff members employed by him also standing nearby, praising his talent. Moreover, he had a world-class five-star dish named "special kid's lunch", which could be considered his special dish for the restaurant. This restaurant also had an interesting manner for ordering food, which was to use a special machine in the shape of a pink frog-like creature. By inserting cash into the machine, you would get a food ticket in exchange, and the food would be ordered. Ran recommended Conan try out the "special kid's lunch", as that was what this restaurant was famous for. Nevertheless, Conan did not want it and said that a kid's lunch was still just a kid's lunch. This provoking statement got heard by the chef, and he seemed rather furious about it. Ran also perceived that Conan was acting like a grownup, and people who did not know him very well would most likely assume he was an arrogant kid. In the end, Conan decided to eat omurice, just like Ran, and not experience the "special kid's lunch". The chef got even more indignant after learning of Conan's decision. Ran started ordering their food using the special food machine; she first found the corresponding machine, which was used for ordering omurice, and selected the number of dishes desired by using the lever that was installed on the right-hand side of the machine. After receiving the money and order, the eye of the pink frog suddenly emits laser light, and the chef inside the kitchen would accept it by absorbing the laser light using a cooking pan. The pan displayed "Omurice II" after the erosion of the laser light. "SHOWTIME!!!" The chef shouted with excitement. Namley, a tune of classical music kicked in; it was "Eine kleine Nachtmusik", composed by Wolfgang A. Mozart. The chef cooked the omurice along with this elegant classical music, with his three staffs dancing to cheer him up. After Jurakudai finished his cooking, the dishes were placed inside a steel pot cover. They were then sent into a rocket, which could fly from the kitchen and reach the dining area. On the customer side, Ran and Conan arrived at the dining area and saw a marvellous design of the room, with a universe background and 3D models of the moon, the earth, and even a rainbow swirling around. And most importantly, the dining tables and seats were located on a carousel. The rocket was dangling from the dining table where Ran and Conan were sitting, and the two dishes were then dropped downward and lied on top of the table using a parachute made of some sort of fabric. The most ingenious thing was that the parachute could then be used as a bib. Ran and Conan had their meal very gracefully, along with the accompaniment of classical music. Back to the present, Conan discovered a photo of him eating the omurice stuck on the wooden door, seemingly taken on his last visit to the restaurant. It was fixed with the tip of the stick that was attached to the flag, which was stabbed on top of the omurice in that restaurant. Conan surmised that the chef of the restaurant might have done it. He could easily take the photo inside the kitchen while he was eating the omurice. After this deduction, he then thought of the staff member who was playing the violin in the background when the chef was cooking. Conan seemed to understand what was going on, and turned his face towards the old man who was standing just behind him. And enquired if the omurice corpse the old man saw was himself, and surprisingly, the old man shook his head. Then Conan asked if the corpse was a long-haired high school girl wearing overalls (Ran Mouri), and the old man nodded. As Conan got shocked, he noticed a badge icon equipped on the old man's chest and then quickly discovered the old man's identity. After the dawn had faded and the jet-black had taken over the sky, Kogoro, Ran, and Conan were walking down a deserted street, grumbling that they had just completed a request concerning a lost cat. All of a sudden, they heard a high-pitched whistle out of nowhere, resonating around the entire street in Haido City. When they got there to examine the circumstances, they saw a security guard lying on the pavement, struggling with weak vitality but still alive. Apparently, he fell off the big staircase that was above him. The security guard uttered "white clothes" repeatedly using his last breath, while using his finger to point at the pavement, which led towards the major avenue. Conan noticed that there were bloody footprints throughout the pavement that the security guard pointed at. At the same time, Conan also heard a woman sobbing, which seemed to come from the top of the staircase. The police then arrived and found out that there was another person murdered on top of the staircase. The woman who was sobbing next to the corpse was the victim's wife, Keiko Yuki. Hideto Yuki was the president of an IT company, and his IT company building was situated right behind the crime scene. Therefore, Sato deduced that Hideto was most likely killed when he was exiting his IT company building, as there was a platform in front of the building, followed by a huge staircase that led to the place where the IT company security guard Goro Nezu was murdered. Conan then scrutinised the crime scene meticulously and discovered that the blood stains ended abruptly and must have been splattered onto the culprit as well. Thus he turned his sight towards the victim's wife, Keiko, who had precisely a lot of blood stains on her clothes due to her first contact with the corpse and was wearing white clothes, just as the security guard Goro said before his death. The police discovered a stun gun, always carried by Hideto for self-defence, ditched among the blood stains, and judging by its voltage, it must have been used on the culprit once. After checking the situation at the top, everyone began to investigate the dead Goro at the bottom of the staircase. It happened to be the same knife that took away their lives, and when they looked closely, there were numerous cut wounds on Goro's chest, and that might be the result of his battle with the culprit. With regards to the bloody footprints, they extended towards the avenue. Sato once again deduced that the culprit might have escaped in that direction, switched their shoes, or fled in a vehicle. The suspects were Keiko Yuki, Hideto's wife, and Kaoru Ichinose, Hideto's secretary. These two were around when the two murder cases got implemented. Keiko explained that she was talking to his husband in a third-floor meeting room, and she stayed behind, always at the back of the building. After hearing the alarm whistle, she went to the window to check it out. This made her see the corpse lying below the building and the security guard running and chasing the culprit. Then she heard a fatal scream from the security guard, Goro, who fell in the middle of the staircase. After giving out this information, she resumed sobbing. However, Conan realised that she wore a wedding ring, but the victim did not. So he deduced that they might be at odds and on the verge of divorcing. This offered her a plausible motive for the killings. Soon Kogoro excluded the possibility of Keiko committing the crime, as if the culprit was really Keiko, Goro must have pointed at the top of the stairs but instead towards the avenue direction. And Keiko was wearing heels anyway, which did not match the two footprints at the crime scene. Yet the suspicion fell on the victim's secretary, Kaoru Ichinose. Conan determined that Kaoru was smoking across the building by smelling his clothes, which were exactly where the security guard pointed. He also confessed, and explained that he was smoking on the opposite pavement, and the crime scene was entirely blocked by other buildings in that position. Although Kaoru was wearing a pink vest, the vest was reversible, and on the reverse side of the vest, the colour was white, which matched Goro's testimony. Nevertheless, the police did not find any blood stains on it, but coffee stains. Now here comes the hard mystery: the police did not find anything off upon them, which proved their innocence. Then who else would the culprit be? Conan did not understand why could not the culprit attack Hideto when he was alone, but instead, in front of the security guard. After some time, Sato found out that four years ago, Yuki's company was suspected of illegal activities, and the woman, named Sachi Shirai, who supposedly had the full responsibility killed herself by jumping off the IT company building. And the one giving the testimony which Sachi jumped off the building was he security guard, Goro. After Goro gave his testimony, he immediately paid off all the debts he had accumulated. Hence, Kogoro deduced that he was bribed to give false testimony. Conan looked around the internet and found a life-time photo of Sachi Shirai, which, from the reflection of the wine glass, showed Kaoru. Kaoru had connections with Sachi, even though the incident happened before his arrival at this IT company. He admitted being Sachi's boy friend and revealed that he entered the company just to discover the truth of that incident. He also uncovered that the reason he was smoking across the building was actually to meet his president. As his president felt a sort of remorse and wanted to turn himself in regarding the incident happened four years ago. Today he also had confessed with his wife Keiko about his repent too. Since the president had never shown up, he decided to inspect what was going on nearby. He then noticed the bloody footprints caused by the culprit and followed him up the stairs. And found his president, Hideto, dead and the security guard performing chest compressions for the president. Anyhow, Goro mistook him for the culprit, who intended to retire back to the crime scene. And wanted to catch him and hand him to the police. That was also what Keiko saw in the IT company building. The only thing he could do was reverse the vest and pretend that he had just passed by. In Professor Agasa's house, after rejecting Ran's invitation for shopping at the Beika Department Store, Conan sat on top of the sofa, and was watching a TV drama named "Flying Squir Murders", while urging Agasa to tag along. Agasa brought some pizza and they began to watch the TV drama. "We two girls should enjoy today to our hearts' content!" exclaimed Sonoko, who was shopping with Ran at the Beika Department Store, which was as crowded as ever. After all the fun and excitement, they encountered Haibara and Ayumi just by chance, when they were chilling on top of the roof of the shopping mall building. In addition, Sato also passed by, and the reunion of the five old acquaintances instigated an afternoon tea at the Beika Department Store restaurant. Sato explained that she came here to seize the limited edition pear sweets from Tadano Fruits Parlour. This brought up their following conversations, nevertheless, after mentioning about Megure's funniness, Sonoko uttered that she noticed someone who acted very strangely on the third floor: a man dressed in green, with a peculiar hair style that contained yellow and black, who bumped into the two girls. He was mumbling to himself and kept looking at the ceiling, with no intent of buying clothes. Ayumi afterwards also pointed out that she also saw a man acting weird on the sixth floor: a man in a shirt with a pattern of sun. He was not looking at the paintings that were displayed in the art gallery, but instead, he chose to peer at the empty white wall. Ran later remarked that she saw another man looking queer as well on the roof: he wore a black trench coat, sunglasses, and possessed short black hair, he was also mumbling to himself while looking at the sky, trying to figure out the direction of the wind using his fingers. And after hearing all of the speeches given by the others, Sato also could not stand concealing anything, she confessed that she saw a curious man too, on the ground floor outside the department store: he was rather stout and strong, wore a pink shirt, and was pushing a stroller while mumbling to himself. The most intriguing thing was, the stroller was empty. They attempted to consider all of these as solely coincidences, but Haibara deduced that it might not be the case if too many repetitions emerged. She said that it was possible that their mumbling was in fact the communication between each other through the radio. Therefore, Sato concluded that they were most likely planning to implement a crime. Sonoko speculated that the thieves might be targeting the huge diamond in a jewellery exhibition named "Harry Murzabayev Design Diamond Collection Special Exhibition" on the sixth floor which will take place from the 1st of August onward. The five of them decided to keep an eye on the incident at least and investigate it. Ran called Shinichi for help, and at the same time, Ayumi called Conan. Unfortunately, Conan was too fascinated by watching the detective drama to realise the two phone calls ringing from his phones. After that, she withdrew some cash from an ATM. Takagi deduced that she was probably doing all of these things for his ex, hence, she still had some feelings for him. Suddenly, she phoned Takagi, and asked everyone to gather at her house because she had decided to confess everything. The truth turned out to be a coincidence, after Takagi and Chiba had questioned her and left her house, Fujiki contacted her, saying he was about to hide in her apartment, but owing to the presence of the police, he fled away timidly. The money and food were just a gimmick to make the police believe that Fujiki was coming to her home after she knew she was being watched. But eventually, she thought permitting her ex to consistently stay on the run was not the best choice, and she would recommend him atone for his sins. After confessing everything, she burst out in tears. Takagi also comprehended the reality, thus, he decided to retrieve the stakeout plan and after Fujiki alone. The Detective Boys followed the two policemen into a convenience store that was situated nearby Yoda's home. They viewed the security footage together, and found Fujiki's face in the image. Combining with the timestamp, it was apparently on his way to Yoda's home in the morning, however, they did not discover the scenario he left Yoda's house. Afterwards, the Detective Boys investigated more clues regarding the case: Yoda used to be a joyful person, but after she broke up with Fujiki, she fell into the abyss of depression. Just last month, Yoda engaged with a man called Daisuke Ishinabe, who ran a general store called "Ishinabe Discount". He was precisely meeting Yoda at that time. After confirming, the person who asked about Haibara's name was actually a graduate of the school, who got there to celebrate a class reunion. There were three people in front of the Detective Boys: the man who asked about Shiho, Murata Sho, who used to be the class president, Gaku Yanagimachi, who used to be the class vice-president, and lastly, Seiko Ichihashi, who used to be the class secretary. It was obvious that they were Akemi's former classmates, they recognised Haibara as Shiho right away as Haibara matched the brown-hair girl who was standing beside Akemi in a photo that Akemi showed them. The three of them decided to leave the rest of the old alumnus behind in classroom 6-A, who were organising everything for the reunion party. The three of them wanted to dig out the time capsule they buried before their graduation. They told the two teachers that Akemi was the one who buried those time capsules, and Mrs. Kobayashi said that she wrote the location on a piece of paper, which she handed to their teacher, Mr. Kunigami. When she took out the paper, the three of them reacted in astonishment. It was nothing obvious but a sophisticated code that said the following: (Librarian Miyano Akemi) Show me a Monet. Before handing the note to Mr. Kunigami, Akemi claimed that there was a message for everyone and, most importantly, a message for her younger sister as well. Conan also spoke for the Detective Boys, saying they would also help find the time capsule with them. Conan's intent was to find the message left by Akemi for Haibara before the others and secretly deliver it to her. They divided themselves into three searching groups: Haibara, Ayumi, and Conan would go with Murata; Mrs. Kobayashi and Mitsuhiko would go with Ichihashi; and Mrs. Wakasa and Genta would go with Yanagimachi. Conan thought that "Show me a Monet", must be connected to a Monet painting, and precisely, their principal loves the work of Monet. So they headed towards the principal's room, as there was usually a replica of Monet's work hanging on the office wall. Nevertheless, the painting on display that day was not Monet's work but instead Murata's work, which won the award. Conan did not find anything written on the back of the painting. In the nurse's office, Mitsuhiko was searching for clues in the sink because he surmised that "tell a lie" from "doctor don't lie" sounded like "tearai", which is the word sink. Unfortunately, he did not find anything near the sink. In the home economics room, Genta was admiring how cool Yanagimachi was for being a firefighter and having saved numerous lives, just like a hero. Meanwhile, Mrs. Wakasa was searching around the cookstove to find a match for the phrase "don't burn charm 89". Mrs. Wakasa mentioned that the music room was nearly caught on fire once, 14-15 years ago, which even resulted in the thousands of cranes in the room that were folded for the choral contest getting slightly burned. Yanagimachi recalled the scenario in which Akemi witnessed himself igniting the fire in the backyard of the school at that time. After the search for time capsules failed, Mrs. Kobayashi proposed showing the code to the rest of the class for help. After knowing some information related to Hiroshi, Kogoro decided to start the investigation at least. Hiroshi worked for an apparel firm, therefore, Kogoro and Conan visited there. However, the front desk lady uttered that there isn't anybody in the firm called Hiroshi Nakajima, which forced Kogoro to consult Hiroshi's coworker who appeared in that diving photo. Nishimura was still at work and wore a grey suit and a red tie, looking rather formal. He also equipped a ball-like earring with a redish colour. What he said chocked both of them... Hiroshi quit the firm six months ago already! Although he was quite close to Hiroshi, he still had no idea what had happened to him. Just as Kogoro and Conan were leaving the firm building, the front desk lady secretly approached Kogoro and told him the truth. She actually saw in the scenario how Hiroshi insisted on quitting the company and scolded how exploitative his boss is. Kogoro still did not get any decisive information for the case, but Conan hinted to him that there were still two people that they could contact with: the dive shop owner and Hiroshi's younger brother Ryu. Kogoro phoned the owner of that dive shop "Ocean Blue", Isao Yamauchi. He said that he remembered Hiroshi and claimed that he used to work for the dive shop, and also about how keen he was on sharks. Nevertheless, he stopped going there four years ago due to the high cost of diving, as he only got to spend 2000 yen per month. After that, they reached Hiroshi's brother, Ryu. He discloed about how Takako is strict with her husband Hiroshi, that she only deploys 2000 yen for Hiroshi to spend every month; and that whenever Hiroshi went out, he was also forced to share photos and contact her every two hours, and that was only the tip of the iceberg for all the rules she set for Hiroshi. Despite the fact that Hiroshi had quit his job six months ago, his wife Takako did not believe it. He in fact put all of his allowance money from every month towards the year-end lottery, and luckily, he won one billion yen last year! After some deep contemplations, he then decided to pursue his dream and spend all the money towards the construction of his dream aquarium. This also matched the fact that he loved seeing hammer-head sharks. After seeing the little film, Kogoro and Conan fully understood what Hiroshi was doing in this basement. Without his wife's acknowledgement, he built the palace of his dreams. However, just at the same time, Conan noticed a floating corpse inside the aquarium. And when they looked closely, it was... According to the park warden, there are many visitors that give the birds food, so it must be a bag full of food. Mitsuhiko, using his perceptive observation skills, along with his astonishing deduction skills, managed to find the hat owner. Evidently, the owner of that hat is named Nozomu Katsumi. He was also surprised when Mitsuhiko handed him the hat and inquired how he knew it was his. Since the symbol on the hat looked custom-made, it was most likely an amateur baseball team. In addition, they contacted the hat manufacturer, following the clues, which helped them find Katsumi's teammates - that was how he found the hat owner. After that, Mitsuhiko disclosed that he actually consulted the "canon" of Sherlock Holmes Stories. And this time it was "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle". When the Detective Boys left Katsumi's premise, they found out by questioning some regular park visitors that most of their (or their friend's) jewels were stolen by the new burglar. That was infamously known in the entire district, and a police officer the Detective Boys met informed every resident and strengthened their awareness of it. At the same time, Haibara showed a police officer a sketch book that a female old lady gave her. There were a lot of drawings she drew within this park, and after the police officer had seen it, he pointed at a man drawn on the sketch book, which was apparently the park warden, Kimishima, and said that he had questioned him three times already because he felt him being somewhat suspicious, however, no falws were found on him. This sentence gave Conan a clearer idea of what was going on. And combining the discovery Mitsuhiko found, which all of the people who got robbed were regular park visitors, Conan figured out the culprit's trick of stealing jewels. Conan claimed Kimishima was the burglar, who knew the park visitors' time out. With this information, he could steal the jewels when the visitors were strolling out in the park. Moreover, to avoid any evidence being left on himself, he decided to take advantage of the pigeons he raised. With some practice, it should not be difficult to make them steal the jewels. He knew very well that pigeons have "homing instincts", which are their ability to return to their nests. But when the Detective Boys went to see Kimishima, they found Kimishima struggling in the head with tonnes of blood. What happened to him? The Detective Boys analysed the situation of this attempted murder: there were leather shoeprints on the floor, which were apparently not the victim's since Kimishima wore sneakers; and the weapon to strike the victim's head was the bat left in the lost-and-found box. In other words, the culprit was someone Kimishina knows, probably an accomplice or a robbery-related person. The mess in the shed might not be the result of their tussling, but Conan deduced that the culprit must have been searching the shed to find someone. Most likely flee away when seeing the arrival of the Detective Boys, they must be hiding somewhere in this park to watch out for another opportunity to sneak in once again. Later on, the Detective Boys began their investigation into "finding the culprit". When the sun was about to set, all of the members of Detective Boys had gathered together, except Mitsuhiko, who was still poking around in the park. Inside the restroom, Mitsuhiko was washing his hands. When he lifted his hands upward, he recalled himself carrying the birdhouse this morning, which made him think of something. He swiftly ran out of the restroom and went to the shed, seemingly understanding the truth of the case. On the other hand, the culprit was watching him at the back of the tree trunk. During the morning, he discovered that he appeared to have a dump on his head, and he realised that his jakcet was stained with somebody else's blood. In addition to the broken glasses' lens, he suspected himself of doing something terrible. Therefore, he thought finding a detective to unravel the mystery behind all of this might be the wisest choice. Even though Kogoro accepted the affair, it was still pretty tough to find the starting point of the investigation. Since this man had lost the memory specifically of that night, but Conan discovered some potential clues in the man's body. For example, on the side of the jacket's sleeve, there were some olive petals stuck onto it; the shoe sole of this man was also contaminated with some pieces of concrete; and lastly, he found a golden-coloured fibre on the man's hand, which had some blood stained in the middle of that fibre. To figure out the actual place that Sako was, Conan shined blacklight from his watch onto the man's palm, and a series of characters appeared: EDEN. In reality, it is a nightclub named EDEN that most young people usually go to during the night. Inside the club, though it was closed during the day, they came across the owner of this club, Leila Hata. She had some black blemishes on her clothes. She was also quite astounded when she learned that Sako had lost his memory that night. She then gave the information that Sako stayed at the club all the time, and she even showed two photos to support her statement. One was taken at 11PM, which Sako appeared to be rejoicing in singing and dancing with the other customers; another was taken at 4AM, which Sako was alone, lying on the sofa, and looked rather drunk inside the club. After showing these photos, Hata immediately asked Kogoro to stop nagging her and leave since the case was "closed". The explanation for the broken glasses and the blood-stained jacket was probably caused by a trip over by Sako himself on his way home. Despite the majority believing this speculation, Conan was still sceptical about it, as inside the photos Hata showed there was a suspicious point he noticed: in the 11PM photo, the sole of Sako was still intact, but in the second photo, which was taken at 4AM, the concrete appeared on the sole. He said that this was evidence that Sako was out for once during this period. Hata also confessed that it was Sako who requested her to fabricate this false alibi for him, but now, knowing that Sako was in fact out during that night and even dubiously instructed to fabricate an alibi, what did he actually do? Conan led everyone to a factory nearby the club since there were some concrete grounds there, which could be a possible premise that Sako got the concrete on his sole from. When arriving there, the construction site flagger, whose name is Tetsuo Morozumi, obstructed their passage. But instantly, he recognised Sako right away. He then showed the camera video taken. Sako indeed appeared in the video, even though his face was rather unclear. After the confirmation from Takagi by Kogoro, they found out that there was an unsolved theft case that took place within that period; however, it was caused by multi-culprits, and no blood was involved, so the coast was cleared for Sako here. When they scrutinised it meticulously, the person who did that was precisely Sako! They got there, and Sako tried to recover the "hugging scenario", but it did not much with the trivial perceptions he had during the loss of memory span. After that, they met the people who filmed Sako doing that and uploaded it to the internet. Driven by the menance words uttered by Kogoro, he relunctantly showed a video he filmed but did not post it. In the video, he precisely caught Sako walking through the square, with his jakcet stained and his glasses broken as well. And evidently, he was saying phrases like "I killed him." He also said that it happened yesterday at 2AM and gave the direction of where Sako came from at that time. They then found an abandoned building there, and in its yard, they planted an olive tree, so the olive petals Sako had must have been gotten from there. As they entered that building, they saw an old man dead in the corner of the room, with his feet facing towards the wall. On the side of the deceased old man, there was a little fragment of glass that remained, and surprisingly, it matched the missing gap on Sako's glass lens. Seeing this, Sako had somewhat realised and recalled what basically happened that night; according to his reminiscence, he pushed the victim with his own hands, turned around, and fled. Megure and Takagi were once again responsible for handling this case. They immediately identified the victim's identity; obviously, he was an old man who lived in the nearby apartment alone and always patrolled around the street and told off the drunks and youths that held a passion for partying. After the police had analysed the crime situation, they found out that the deceased was being pushed by the culprit, and the head of the victim hit the pillar in the building, which left a blood trace on the pillar. It was also proven that the culprit exerted a great deal of force on the chest of the victim, as a cruise could be seen on Koba's chest, which probably meant that the culprit pushed Koba brutally when they were murdering Koba. And now Sako has become the prime, or more technically, the only possible candidate for this murder. As most of the evidence pointed solely to himself: the crusie on the chest was checked and confirmed to have Sako's fingerfrints on it; the blood stained on his jacket was also analysed and turned out to be the victim's; he asked the club owner to falsify an alibi; a video filmed with his speech saying "I killed him"; and lastly, the estimated time of death of the victim was precisely the time when Sako left the nightclub. All sorts of clues were indicating that Sako had done it. Kogoro, Ran, and Sonoko went to Kanagawa to try out some French gourmet food in a restaurant called Déesse du Vent. The first intent of them going here was because Kogoro saw Yoko had come here before in one of her drama. Therefore it was rather popular and had a two-year waiting list of reservations; so how did they manage to go there instantly? The answer was obviously Sonoko - but as well as the fact that the head chef of that restaurant was a fan of the Sleeping Kogoro. Supposedly, they had also called the Detective Boys and Agasa to tag along. Unfortunately, Haibara got fairly afraid concerning the past incidents (The Time Capsule Case and FBI Serial Murder Case), in which she was on the brink of the explosure of her identity, so she decided to stay out this time, the other kids thus accompanied her in Professor's house and altogether they ate Subaru Okiya's curry. On Conan's end, he was still with Agasa inside the car, lost in orientation since Kanagawa was quite strangeness for them. Agasa was also caught for overspeeding in the middle of the road by a female traffic cop, who has a lock of red-brown long hair, wearing the police uniform and helmet. When they finally arrived there, Agasa and Conan explained the situation and the reason for there lateness. After that, they met a stout and strong old man, apparently having similar ages with Professor Agasa, who claimed himself as Kinji Nanjou, the Suzuki Security representative director. he greeted Sonoko and went to the bathroom; Agasa, on the otehr hand, also intended to go to the bathroom. Within the bathroom, President Nanjo and Professor Agasa were both washing their hands. They found out that they looked somewhat alike to each other, President Nanjo therefore entrusted Agasa with a little affair, which was to swap their clothes to impersonate each other. President Nanjo in fact wanted to sneak out of the restaurant before his family arrived, so he wanted to fool his guards so they would mistake Agasa for himself, so he could run away. The most dramatic consequence of this was that it did not fool the two guards of his, but instead, it fooled two criminals who were inside the restaurant precisely. A man with a long face, short hair, and a viscious look hijacked Agasa with a gun and took him to the garage forcefully, along with his accomplice. Just as Conan was puzzling about it, wondering why he saw "two President Nanjos" outside the bathroom, a sharp sound of gunfire burst in. By judging the establishment point of this gunfire, Conan persuited and got to the garage. Conan then found a drop of the professor's fresh blood on the ground, and he understood what was going on with Agasa, so he activated his glasses to track the location of Agasa since he had a detective badge with him. He then urged Kogoro and Ran to inform the police, and he had stepped onto his skateboard and gone straight towards the highway. He then used the detective badge to communicate with the professor. Agasa said that evidently there were two criminals involved in this abduction case; the first was the man, who pointed at him with the gun initially; the second was a woman, who was driving the car. Conan also got the indication that the car in which Agasa was kidnapped was a yellow one. Conan afterwards found the car and noticed some stains of blood on the truck, so it was assumed that Agasa was inside.| The woman who was driving the car attempted to ditch Conan by insanely turning the steering wheel, which bounced Conan midst the sky. At that instance, Conan was swinging in the hollow sky, and his helplessness has genuinely manifested. Kogoro and Ran, who were driving behind, also witnessed that, and they were utterly shocked. Suddenly, the traffic cop who intercepted Agasa earlier grabbed Conan in the middle of the sky with her motorcycle and saved him timely. Ran felt that the traffic cop had grown a pair of angel wings, which lingered back and forth. "Thud..." The motorcycle landed on the road, Conan was successfully saved by the traffic cop, who seemingly had "wings" on her back. She took off the police helmet and actually introduced herself properly to everyone: her name is Chihaya Hagiwara, who is from the Kanagawa Police Traffic Division. Hagiwara then analysed the situation: Professor Agasa was kidnapped due to his similar appearances with President Nanjo, who was the real target of the two criminals. President Nanjo once bragged about how good his safes were by saying "No one is able to open it unless it's him; then go and steal me as well", which somewhat provoked the robbery thieves, so the two criminals here might have robbed one of these safes and wanted to rob President Nanjo as well in order to open his safe. Hagiwara wanted to after the two criminals with Conan, since Conan had the location tracking glasses to know the exact location and the detective badge to communicate with Agasa directly. However, one of the criminals noticed that their hostage might have some sort of GPS technology on him apart from his phone, which they had gotten rid of in the first place. So they re-examined the truck and tossed the detective badge out of the car. At the same time, they also changed the car licence to minimise the probability of being discovered. Hagiwara flet quite discouraged, since now they could not know the location of that yellow car anymore and also that it would be impossible to intercept it with a different car license. Conan then told her that "there's another way; there's no need to give up yet". By means of this remark by Conan, Hagiwara got reminded by her younger brother, Kenji Hagiwara, who obviously said the same sentence before. On the other hand, Kogoro, Ran, and Sonoko returned to the garage of that French restaurant; they were discussing the case as well. Kogoro found out that the criminals did not make a reservation to go to this restaurant; they just kncoked down two random people in the garage and pretended to be them. President Nanjo also leaked his schedule for today, so they got here easily. The two people were clearly knocked unconscious by stun gun, just like what they did with Professor Agasa when they tossed his detective badge.| Afterwards, the Kanagawa Prefecture police showed up; it was the familiar Jugo Yokomizo; he also commented on the Mouri family as the "family of reapers" in a playful tone. Later on, he quickly targeted the two criminals' identities; the woman was named Rokue Chien, and the man was named Daiya Chien. Ran then told him that Conan went along with a female traffic cop who possessed long red hair to persuade the criminals, and Inspector Yokomizo was fairly corried concerning Hagiwara... While riding on Chihaya's motorcycle, Conan skillfully identified the rough location of the two criminals; by using the tapping device installed on Professor's glasses, he was able to hear the persistent sound of fire trucks, which made them target the exact location instantly. Hence, Chihaya demanded a checkpoint along the path that the kidnappers were planning to take. On most occasions, it would work and intercept the culprits right away; however, after they consulted the police at the checkpoint, they got the information that no yellow cars with the same model as the kidnappers had passed through. And supposedly it could be the only way for them to escape, and if they turned backwards, Conan and Chihaya, who were riding the motorcycle at the back, would notice them as well. After some time, the police received the information that when they were doing the car examination, they heard that there were some people buying a lot of bottles of hot tea from a nearby convenience store. Apart from the 20 bottles of hot tea, they also bought a blue-grey umbrella. Conan was then able to deduce that the people the police were mentioning must be the two kidnappers, since he also heard a chime of the convinience store door in the tapping device. She also called Nemoto a "tragic genius", since he was fairly good in baseball competitions and achieved quite a success, but injured himself right before playing within Koshien Stadium; he also developed himself amongst the racing aspect, but he encountered an accident and was forced to retire; he also attempted to become a competitive eater, but unfortunately, he ended up in the hospital when he was supposed to compete in the world championship... Therefore, Nemoto had lots of trophies and souvenirs regarding his splendid career experiences but never managed to reach the top for each of them. Thereafter, he went into despair and was considering committing crime activities... until he met the lady, Eriko Nemoto. Despite undertaking numerous obstacles, they still managed to make a change and were successfully married to each other. They have been married for nine years, and they took one photo for each year, which can be seen in the lady's home. She wondered if her husband had been committing a crime before the car accident, and thus she would want Kogoro to investigate the source of the 20 million yen she found earlier. It is just this kind of young president who has decisive strategies and bold ambitions and who wants to give his company a change. He has recently come across some assaults that would take his life... This was already the second time he encountered the attack incident. He liaised with the company staff members for urgent meetings, informing them regarding the situation. The responses he got from the staff members were suggestions to contact the police, as Tsukuba might be on the verge of losing his life. However, Tsukuba sneered and denied this proposal, as he sees himself as "an immortal man" so he would not back down in this matter, and even boasted that he would take down the attacker next time he saw him. After his haughty remark, the meeting room was filled with an atmosphere of unconvincingness. Notwithstanding that, all of them knew that it was no way to make Tsukuba change his decision, as he barely listened to any of the company staff members. He has his own mission; he has his own way of making decisions; he has his own manner... The only person he would listen to must be his aunt though, named Sadako Machigawa. Despite all of the staff members looked fairly worried concerning their president's situation, his relentless way of dealing with company matters was bound to receive grudges from certain people; hatred, dubiousness, and malice were covertly lurking among the company without the knowledge of Tsukuba... The next morning, as usual, Kogoro and Conan had their customary stroll out on the street of Beika. As they gradually approached an intersection that leads to an alley, they saw a person lying on the ground, with their legs exposed out of the wall. Initially, Kogoro thought it was just a drunk person who passed out casually on the street, but when he closely examined it, they realised it was nothing but a corpse! Conan, Ran, and Sonoko visited an exhibition by an up-and-coming artist, Motoko Bekobe. Motoko has been releasing avant-garde works that combine traditional akabe with modern art, and are evidently attracting further attention across the globe. The three of them first saw a ceremony in the New Beika Modern Art Museum, there were several men dancing, wearing loincloths, cheering up for the big day. They constantly uttered the peculiar motto "Akabeko Bekoe", hinting everyone about Bekobe's success. After the event had ended, they shifted their steps and diverted their sight onto the actual exhibition. Within the hall, they could clearly see all kinds of Akabekos, which varied in size and colour and all possessed extraordinary imagination and creativity, despite the fact that there were barely any of those classical red ones. Conan thus began to explain the legend of this craft: it was apparently a folk craft from the Fukushima Prefecture, with persistant wobbling heads; it was a toy made for children around the Aizu region of Fukushima; during the Edo Period, a temple named Enzo-ji Temple was destroyed by earthquakes and needed reconstruction; it became an elusive issue back then since it was hard to transport materials up the cliff, which supposedly a red cow turned up out of nowhere to help the workers transporting these materials contributed to the rebuild of the temple. Just as Ran and Sonoko were astonished by the "weird facts" Conan knows, an abrupt scream kicked in from the staff room. This time, Kogoro took over an unusual affair, from a well-known novelist who specialises in teen novels particularly, named Chu Masamura. He requested Kogoro to investigate regarding a deceased, who is called Taizo Yasuki, who died recently during a car accident. He persistantly emphasised his need, to ascertain all of the late Yasuki's friends and acquaintances, especially those "questionable" ones. Kogoro thus set off to work, he inquired around the Yasuki residence and saw a man dressed in a formal suit, talking to Yasuki's mother, and that person turned out to be the new Haido City assembly member, who is named Hiroki Kataoka. So Kogoro interviewed him with some questions within his office. Kataoka confessed the fact that Yasuki and he were classmates during high school, but not very close, apparently. But no matter how Kogoro inquired further, the assembly member insisted on the same statement, so he had to call off the investigation forcibly right there. Before leaving, Kataoka handed Kogoro some flyers to help spread the news about him being the new assembly member for Haido City. Afterwards, Kogoro learned that Yasuki loved reading books in bookstores, but when Kogoro reached out the bookstore owner, the owner said that Yasuki had quit the bookstore for some time already, with the reason of writing his own novel. Everything had returned to the starting point - novel, so Kogoro visited his client Masamura's apartment. As he pushed the door open, what he saw was only Masamura's cold dead body lying in front of the apartment entrance. Kogoro felt exceedingly confounded, and was still reckoning the meaning with regards to the casual characters on the notebook, and failed to notice the culprit behind him... According to the investigation by Detective Takagi, the victim is apparently a loan shark and runs a financial business in a nearby building. He always wears luxury clothes and equips expensive accessories (such as his golden watch); however, they found his wallet in his dead body to be empty, and those so-called luxury goods disappeared as well. So they boldly assume the murder to be a robbery, and from someone who probably could not afford the high interest rate of the loan the victim offered. According to the investigation by Detective Takagi, the victim is apparently a loan shark and runs a financial business in a nearby building. He always wears luxury clothes and equips expensive accessories (such as his golden watch); however, they found his wallet in his dead body to be empty, and those so-called luxury goods disappeared as well. So they boldly assume the murder to be a robbery, and from someone who probably could not afford the high interest rate of the loan the victim offered. Conan felt rather discouraged; he compromised, he insticaged everyone to go home. Mitsuhiko was puzzled: he could not believe that Conan actually gave up on cracking the case, which shocked him completely. Haibara explained that probably Conan realised the case was not suitable for a detective to unravel, as it is a random indiscriminate murder committed by a random culprit, which does not have any relationship to the victim, so victim's friend circle could not be inquired about, and as a result, no suspects can be narrowed down to. At this instant, they just got to see a lady cleaning the mess near a metal pole; it was supposedly caused by a guy riding a bicycle, who bumped into the pole. Conan's sorrow had transformed into pure chuckle in just a heartbeat - he got it, the truth, and the trick the culprit used to flee in the middle of the city pavement with a bunch of witnesses, and had a large amount of blood stained on their clothes.
