Emirun and Rex, who previously knew each other in the real world, meet again in Sword Art Online, a full-dive VRMMO where death in the game results in death in reality. They join a scouting group to learn survival techniques but face a deadly threat when their entire party is wiped out by a mysterious Player Killer known as the Black Swordsman. Emirun discovers Rex injured and the Black Swordsman at the scene. Seeking justice and guidance, they turn to the skilled swordswoman Asuna for training. As they navigate a dangerous environment where players betray one another, Emirun and Rex pursue answers and a way forward in the deadly game.
