Anime Koukyoushi: Jungle Taitei

Isao Tomita composed music for *Jungle Emperor* in 1965, later reworking it into a standalone symphonic poem that functions as a visual story. This piece, originally intended to accompany visuals, became the central narrative element. The music was recorded in the mid-1960s and released on LP and later CD in Japan multiple times. In 1991, Tezuka Productions created new animation to accompany the symphonic poem, reversing the original process. The animated version follows the plot of the first *Kimba* episode, depicting a peaceful animal kingdom, the arrival of hunters, Eliza’s capture, Panja’s death, and Kimba’s birth and escape to Africa. The entire story is told without dialogue. The animation style is distinct, influenced by the 1989 TV series but featuring a version of Kimba that differs from previous portrayals.
