Anilape respects the rights of copyright owners. This page explains what this site is, how to send a copyright notice, and how to contest one.

What this site is

Anilape is a free, non-commercial encyclopedic database of anime and manga, comparable to IMDb, MyAnimeList, TheTVDB or JustWatch. Each entry lists factual metadata — title, release date, studio, staff credits, genres, episode count, aggregate scores — together with an original synopsis and outbound links to authorized, licensed streaming platforms.

  • We host no video files, audio files, manga scans, downloads, torrents or magnet links.
  • We operate no streaming player and embed no third-party player.
  • We do not link to unauthorized sources. “Where to watch” lists only licensed distributors.
  • Cover art and episode thumbnails are not stored on our servers. They are referenced directly from the rights holders’ own content delivery networks and are displayed at low resolution solely to identify the work.
  • Factual metadata is retrieved from the public AniList API under its terms of use.

Submitting a copyright notice

If you own a copyright, or are authorized to act on behalf of the owner, and believe material on this site infringes that copyright, send a written notice to [email protected]. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) a valid notice must include all of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or an authorized agent.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  3. The exact URL of the material claimed to be infringing, and a description precise enough for us to locate it. Notices identifying a whole domain, a search results page, or a title without a URL cannot be acted on.
  4. Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

We review every complete notice and respond, normally within 5 business days. Where a claim is valid we remove or disable the identified material.

Before you file an automated notice

Please note that a database entry describing a work is not a copy of that work. Automated keyword sweeps frequently flag reference pages whose only match is a phrase such as “where to watch”, which on this site introduces the rights holder’s own licensed platforms. Misrepresenting material as infringing carries liability for damages and costs under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). If you are unsure whether a page reproduces your work, contact us at [email protected] first — we answer quickly and we would rather resolve it directly.

Counter notification

If material of yours was removed from this site by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter notification to [email protected] including: your signature; identification of the removed material and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; and your name, address, telephone number and consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court.

Repeat infringers

Anilape does not accept user-uploaded content. Should that change, accounts subject to repeated, substantiated copyright complaints will be terminated.
