A small, picturesque nation is bordered by Russia, Austria, and Germany. A boy residing in the capital city encounters a girl who has been taken against her will due to a valuable mineral discovery in her family's old mining site. Several individuals converge on the location, including a greedy American, a Polish activist in male disguise, and government officials seeking a political alliance with Germany. The boy and the kidnapped girl become entangled in the events surrounding these figures, as they possess knowledge about the mine's hidden truth.
