This film combines a partial retelling of the original series with new material. When Sheryl Nome arrives at the colonial fleet for a concert, government conspiracies emerge, leading to her being accused of espionage for Galaxy. Meanwhile, Alto Saotome and Ranka Lee, childhood friends, pursue their individual aspirations as tensions escalate between Frontier and the Vajra. The film is the first part of the Frontier retelling, with the second installment titled *The Wings of Goodbye*.
