Hogen Nishizu, an antique art appraiser, was stabbed to death with a spear. At the scene were Motoyuki Toshima, the president of a securities company, Kinji Chono, the former president of a real estate company, and Suzue Sakamaki, the director of an art museum, who had come to ask for an appraisal of a lacquer artifact called a black lacquer tray.
