In Sternbild City, individuals known as "Next" use their unique abilities to serve as superheroes, protecting citizens and earning sponsor endorsements or "hero points" through their actions. A televised show called "Hero TV" tracks their work and annually crowns the "King of Heroes." Wild Tiger, an experienced hero who typically works alone, is now partnered with Barnaby Brooks Jr., a new hero with a contrasting view on the role of a superhero.
