Xiao Yan from Battle Through Heavens (Doupo Cangqiong) was a the genius of the Xiao family until his mother passed away and he lost his cultivation prowess. He aims to take back his glory and reach the pinnacle of the cultivation path where no one can stand against him, the rank of Dou Di. Xiao Yan practices the Flame mantra Dou Qi training method and as such can quickly cultivate up the ranks and conquer his enemies one step at a time. The reason later on as to why he lost all of his power was due to a ring left by his mother, The ring housed a legendary alchemist who was regaining his power using Xiao Yan. After the ring stops absorbing his powers and Yao Lao gains most of his power back he chooses to use the wisdom of Yao Lao to take revenge on the members of his family that disliked him and treated him like trash after his mothers death.
