Akame

In a medieval Japanese setting, a feudal lord named Nobuhira rules with cruelty, subjecting peasants to violence, forced taxation, and intimidation. He kills for amusement and uses fear to maintain control, leaving the population impoverished and subjugated. Any resistance is brutally crushed. A disabled monk arrives, claiming the suffering is due to a curse from the akame, which are ordinary rabbits. The rabbits, a staple food for locals, are then seen as sacred by the peasants, who begin to revere them. The feudal lord does not oppose this growing veneration.
