A boy named Naota lives with his unusual father and grandfather near a massive factory resembling a giant hand-iron on a hill. He deals with attention from his brother's ex-girlfriend and is struck from behind by a young alien on a Vespa, who also hits him with a bass guitar. This event marks the start of his entanglement in a conflict involving opposing forces from different planets.
