Geunyeoui Simcheong

Based on a Korean folktale, two women with contrasting lives share a desire to escape their circumstances. Shim Chong is a young beggar who cares for her blind father, relying on the generosity of others. The other is a young woman about to become the bride of an elderly chancellor, a marriage arranged to benefit her family. After Shim Chong saves the bride from drowning in a river, the two develop a bond that includes both affection and underlying motives. Their connection unfolds in a society that prioritizes men, raising questions about their ability to navigate such a world. The story includes seven additional chapters beyond the main narrative.
