Mysterious aerial beings called Zai emerge, prompting the development of fighter planes known as "Daughters" and an automated combat system called "Anima," designed in the form of human girls. A young man named Kei Narutani, who dreams of flying, becomes involved with Guripen, an Anima regarded as a key asset in the fight against the Zai.
