As a child, Oto spent summers with his grandmother in a place unfamiliar to him, often sitting alone due to having no local friends. His solitude ended when Sora, a boy two years his senior, invited him to join his group of friends. Oto viewed Sora as a savior, but felt heartbroken when Sora vanished the next summer, leaving Oto with unexpressed emotions.
