In the 2060s, Japan has developed the MRI System, a neurotechnology capable of analyzing visual memories from the brains of individuals who died within 48 hours. This technology is used by a specialized police unit, Section Nine, to investigate complex or high-profile cases. Aoki Ikkou is a new recruit to Section Nine who initially hesitates to examine the private memories and fears of the deceased. As he works with his team and grows closer to his intelligent supervisor, Maki Tsuyoshi, he gains confidence in his abilities. Despite his professional success, Aoki struggles to manage his personal life alongside his intense job. His involvement deepens as he uncovers troubling aspects of Maki's past and the uncertain events surrounding her.
