Hitsuji no Ki

A government initiative relocates 11 former violent criminals to the town of Uoboka, a once-thriving seaport now largely unknown to the outside world. The townspeople are unaware of the newcomers' backgrounds, as only the mayor and his associates know the truth. The project is part of a trial to test the integration of former convicts into society under limited public knowledge. The manga includes three short story novels titled Hamabe, Mokei, and Kiyomi. It received the Excellence Award at the 2014 (18th) Japan Media Arts Festival.
