Rintarou and Kiyo were childhood friends who met in kindergarten. After Kiyo suddenly confessed feelings for Rintarou, he left to study in England, which led Rintarou to begin considering Kiyo as a potential romantic interest. Four years later, Rintarou works as a child caretaker, while Kiyo returns as a professional soccer player. Both have changed significantly during their time apart, and Rintarou feels uneasy about the shift. Kiyo reassures him by saying that throughout the separation, he only ever liked Rintarou.
