Kyouki no Yamanami

A 1931 novella by H.P. Lovecraft, initially rejected by Weird Tales, was later published in 1936 in Astounding Stories. It recounts a failed 1930 expedition to Antarctica led by Dr. William Dyer from Miskatonic University. Dyer documents the events in an attempt to prevent another group from going to the continent. The story has contributed to the idea of ancient astronauts and Antarctica's role in related myths.
