The Skull Man

A young boy becomes an orphan after his parents are killed, and he later uses his unusual abilities to seek revenge. The Skull Man is considered one of the earliest anti-heroes in manga, willing to harm innocent people to achieve his goals. This morally complex approach contributed to the character's appeal. While the Kamen Rider TV series was being developed, its co-creator Ishinomori produced this manga as a personal project. The Toei Company Ltd. later adapted it for their show, making several changes to the original 100-page one-shot story, which was considered too dark, violent, and intellectually intense for a children's audience.
