In an episode that heavily references the story of Kibitsuhiko no Mikoto, Tenchi and Momo encounter Inukai Takeru, Sasa Morihiko, and Tome Tamaomi (retainers of the Emperor's prince in the original story), who resemble Hachiko, Touri, and Hana. While Tenchi continues their search, they come along, in search of a monster ravaging the area. They discover and have a short battle with a Ryoko (the monster) that doesn't recognize Tenchi. This episode features prominent references to Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Tenchi and Hachiko wander a cavernous warehouse full of booby-traps to gather resources for the upcoming Cultural Festival. According to Hachiko, a guidebook is needed to navigate it. The Science Club follows them and immediately get lost and end up running for their lives from a giant rolling iron ball. Tenchi and Hachiko also have to run and lose the guidebook. Beni and Hachiko temporarily cured by using a broom for a weapon) can't defeat Goriki and Tenchi is forced to take it down with the Tenchi-ken. A dazed Beni is hazily aware of the extreme power he shows in the battle. Everyone finds their way out. Yuki and Rui run off with a cart full of "borrowed" supplies for the festival. The sub and dub of the episode present slight differences in the eisode's final scenes. In the Japanese subtitles, Beni decides to punch Tenchi to test his power and easily decks him, making her think she may have mistaken what she saw. In the English dub, Tenchi makes the remark "girl's are always so helpless" and Beni punches him as punishment. Sasami and Ayeka announce that they will be at the Culture Fest (having hypnotized the Student Council into believing that they are students). Ryoko tries to make dinner out of a noxious looking alien creature she traveled into space to capture and is determined to feed it to an unwilling Tenchi, whether it's still squirming or not. Mihoshi et Ryoko s'affrontent tandis que Tenchi et Momo sont en danger à cause de leur combat.

In the past, Mihoshi, battles against Ryoko. Mihoshi pauses her attack when she realizes that Tenchi and Momo are in her line of fire and Ryoko takes her down with her blasts. Suddenly, both are sucked into one of the tears of space-time that brought Beni and Momo down (This is never spoken of again). In gratitude for Momo protecting them, Inukai, Sasa, and Tamaomi agree to help her and Tenchi in their search. Les mésaventures et la jalousie lors du festival de Tenchi

Tenchi visits Sasami's Sweet Shop. It is extremely poplar and Rui eats so much that she runs up an astronomical bill. Yui refuses to pay and Ryoko drags the two into the back to work off their debt. Tenchi then meets the Student Council in the hallway. Momo's oddly understanding friends work it out so Momo can wander alone with Tenchi as she patrols the festival but a short woman in a lab coat (Washu) rams into Tenchi, causing him to grab onto Momo in what seems to be a passionate embrace. Ms. Kurihara sees this and decides to punish his behavior by forcing him to compete in the festival's beauty contest.
