On her seventeenth birthday, Meg is told she has a year remaining to live. Her mentor, the immortal witch Faust, reveals that a curse has been placed on her. To survive, she must cultivate a seed of life using one thousand tears of joy. These tears are difficult to obtain, prompting Meg to embark on a journey. As she helps those around her—friends and neighbors—she becomes more involved in their lives.
