In 2046, a new type of reinforced cardboard capable of absorbing 80% of impact is developed, becoming a key material in global trade. This material becomes central to a children's hobby known as LBX, where participants battle with custom-built mechas. In 2050, a boy named Yamano Ban, who enjoys LBX but does not own a mecha, receives a case containing the AX-00 model from an unknown woman. She tells him that the model now carries the hopes and fears of humanity.
