Shugo and his twin sister Rena gain access to the MMORPG *The World* by winning the in-game characters "Kite" and "Black Rose" from a creator event. They complete various quests alongside new companions Ouka, Mirelle, Hotaru, and Sanjuro. Soon after, strange monsters appear in the game, and being killed by them causes players to fall into comas in the real world. Shugo and Rena become the only ones capable of addressing this issue, though they are also the primary targets. The game appears to conceal hidden secrets, and the reason behind their involvement remains unclear.
