In the year C.E. 73, the aftermath of the second battle of Yachin Due leaves lingering conflict between Naturals and Coordinators. During a diplomatic meeting between PLANT Chairman Gilbert Dullindal and Orb Representative Cagalli Yula Athha, a group of soldiers takes control of ZAFT's new Gundams. Shinn Asuka and his crew aboard the Minerva attempt to stop the hijacking with help from Athrun Zala, Cagalli's bodyguard. Their pursuit leads to a larger crisis, sparking the second Bloody Valentine war. The HD Remaster of the series, which began airing in March 2013, features enhanced animation, revised dialogue and scenes, and new mobile suits. It consists of 50 episodes, excluding the recap episode "Refrain" and splitting the final episode into two parts based on the "The Chosen Future" special with added content.
