Taiyou no Ko Esteban

A 12-year-old boy named Esteban, known as the "Child of the Sun" for his ability to summon sunlight, was found as a baby in Barcelona and raised by an adoptive father. After his father's death, he discovers he was rescued from a shipwreck and learns of a connection between the medallion he has always worn and the Mysterious Cities of Gold in the New World. Determined to uncover his origins, Esteban departs from Spain. He meets Zia, an Inca girl who was taken from her people and also possesses an identical medallion. Later, they are joined by Tao, a boy from the Galapagos who is the last descendant of the Empire of Heva, believed to have built the Cities of Gold. Guided by the star symbol on their medallions, the three travel through the uncharted New World in search of the Cities of Gold, hoping to find their missing parents.
